Vented Fireplaces

There are many fireplace types to choose from. If you have decided to upgrade your wood burning fireplace to gas, you will need to choose the type of gas log that fits both the fireplace and your needs. Most people use vented logs as they have been around for more than 50 years. The vented logs produce a beautiful yellow flame that looks just like a wood burning fire.

If you wish to use a gas vented log set, you will need to convert your wood burning firplace. You need a damper that can be opened to allow smoke to escape up the chimney. Your chimney must be inspected by a professional prior to burning your gas logs. You want to be sure there are no hidden obstructions that could create a fire hazard.

Some vented gas logs produce a hotter fire over others. A vented gas log providing the lowest BTU will offer a great looking fire. Adding a glass door will provide a realistic look of a wood burning fireplace. The glass door should be in the open position when a fire is burning.
